Restaurant/places to eat in Novotel Köln City

For our family trip to Cologne we have decided to stay at the Novotel near the river which was a great decision. Even though the location is not necessarily close to the Dome or the city center, it is close to other locations such as the southern old town with its countless restaurants and small shops. Also the walking path along the Rhein river is just opposite to the hotel. Our room was already prepared for 3 people hence we did not have to do anything else than just moving in and relaxing. The family room we had was just the right size. The amenities in the room were useful, but what we loved most were the USB plugs to charge electronic devices without having to carry electric plugs. So far this is the first hotel we have experienced this luxury, which to my opinion should be pointed out in the hotel specialities. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful at all times. Thank you for this service. The hotel entrance is accessibility friendly. There is a bar to grab some drinks with a separate area where people can sip their drinks on couches and there is a restaurant for guests who want to dine for lunch or dinner. For the breakfast the hotel has a separate restaurant. Due to our plans we were only able to have inhouse breakfast once. It was delicious and had lots of various items and for every taste. We loved staying at this place due to its quiet location, the friendly and professional staff and also because it's a clean and modern hotel. Would we stay again? Definitely yes.

Moreover, being within walking distance of both the Koln Messe/Deutz and Hbf train stations made transportation incredibly convenient. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the hotel staff, whose friendliness and professionalism immediately made me feel at home. Throughout my stay, they went above and beyond to ensure that every need was met, providing exemplary service. One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the sumptuous breakfast served at the hotel. From freshly baked pastries to an array of delicious options, there was something to satisfy every palate. The quality and variety of the offerings were truly impressive.

It was very easy to get to. Centrally located. Beautiful location — a very short walk to the river, close to the main station (bus is super easy to get and gets you within a 3 min walk to the hotel), close to tourist locations (Lindt chocolate museum, Dom, open air movies etc) and has excellent restaurants and cafes in close proximity. While we visited there were several festivals in progress — a food festival on the river front, open air movies— and the hotel is located within minutes of these locations so we walked everywhere. We picked this location because we were only there for a day and didn’t want to spend too much time on trains and Buses. We loved how easy check in was, the room was as described and perfect for the 4 of us. Facilities were clean. Staff was helpful. We left our luggage with the front desk from afternoon until our train at 10pm and they were incredibly accommodating.

The dining options were excellent! The cheese platter was delicious, and the service was impeccable. It’s clear that the team takes pride in creating memorable guest experiences. Good hotel for a one or two night stop for tourism or business purposes. Relatively new with average size rooms, good quality beds and linens and very clean. Competent staff. Easy access off of the highways. Parking available for 20 Euro. Location on a busy street, but our room was quiet. About 25-30 minute walk along the river to the cathedral. Nearest eateries ~10-15 minute walk. Overall a very good value for the price of ~115 Euro/night.
